How does the challenge work?

Participants are challenged to run 63 miles in April to raise funds for Make-A-Wish UK so we can grant a critically ill child's wish before it's too late. The challenge officially starts on 1st April 2024.

Is there a registration fee?

Nope, this event is FREE for anyone to take part! However, every day we make wishes come true for critically ill children, so any funds you can raise for Make-A-Wish UK would really help us reach more children in need of our support.

What if I don't complete the challenge?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. However much you achieve, we're so grateful for your support and for raising much needed funds for Make-A-Wish UK.

Is there an age limit?

No. You can take part if you’re 10 or 110! But, if you’re under 16, you will need a parent or guardian to sign you up to the challenge. Please email [email protected] with permission from your parent or guardian.

Absolutely! It's your personal challenge and we encourage everyone to adapt it to suit their needs and goals. Even though the event is called Run 63, we encourage anyone to take in 63 miles in a way that suits them.

Do I have to be super-fit to take part?

Absolutely not! This is your challenge, so you can do it any way you like. If you have any concerns, please talk to your doctor before taking part in this challenge. The challenge should be completed however is best for your physical ability.

Does my daily/weekly run/walk count?

This is your challenge, and we encourage you to do it your way - some people will do it as part of their usual running regime and others might choose to add this in addition. The important thing is that you're doing something that challenges you. This will vary from person to person, so tailor the challenge however you like. It should be tough, but doable. You should feel satisfied when you finish it!

Can I change the challenge to suit my needs?

Absolutely! It's your personal challenge and we encourage everyone to adapt it to suit their needs and goals.

Can I get an extra top or running buff?

Unfortunately, we have a very limited stock of t-shirts and will only be able to supply one top per registered fundraiser and one buff for the first 100 people to raise £50.

I was sent the wrong sized t-shirt

We're sorry to hear this. Please note that if you are one of the first 1000 sign ups and are eligible for a technical running top, we have very limited stock and sizes so we are unable to make exchanges for tech tops – we can however send you a t-shirt in the size you require. If you’ve received a cotton t-shirt and it is the wrong size, please pop an email over to [email protected] and we'll get that sorted for you! Thanks so much for your patience

What is the fundraising target?

We ask all participants to aim to raise £150, everyone who raises £150 will receive a finishers medal. Facebook automatically sets the target on your page at £150, which could help buy tickets for a critically-ill child like Amber, who wishes to see a London show! If you don’t reach the fundraising target, don’t worry – you’ll receive a virtual medal and every penny you’ve raised will go towards helping us grant wishes!

My ‘Join us in Messenger’ link that I received in an email isn’t working?

Please try this link https://m.me/makeawishuk?ref=FBC_MAIN--M63. This should open up the Facebook Messenger app with a chat with Make-A-Wish UK. If you press ‘get started’ the Run 63 experience will start.

Can we sign up as a family or group?

You can set up a fundraiser in your name and your friend/family can share this same fundraiser. It will be linked to your profile only but you can all use the same link to ask for donations.

What if I can’t run the miles for health reasons?

This is your challenge, so you can do it any way you like. The challenge is personal to you and you can tailor it to suit you. You could start earlier and continue into May, or you could walk it if you prefer.

Do I have to fundraise on Facebook or can I make a donation in another way? Can I make a lump sum donation?

You don’t have to use Facebook – you can fundraise however you wish! If you do a cash collection for example, you could donate that in one go. Email [email protected] for our bank details if needed. Or, you could set up a JustGiving page by using this special sign up form or send in a cheque - whatever works for you!

My business/employer want to donate/match fund by fundraising. How do they do this?

It's wonderful that your employer would like to match fund you! The process varies a little between companies. If you can pop us an email over to [email protected], we'll be more than happy to provide them any further information they might need. Thank you so much

Do we get a medal for reaching a certain target?

Every supporter who raises over £150 will be sent a medal as a thank you. If you’ve changed address lately, please let us know so we can make sure it reaches you.

What if I don’t reach the fundraising target?

Every penny counts and will help grant wishes for critically ill children. Every time you share your Fundraiser with your friends and family increases the chance you can grant a wish. You won’t receive a medal in the post, but you’ll receive a virtual finishers medal.
