Wish Alumni
How you can get involved
As Wish Alumni, you and your family are unique. Now, you can use your personal experience to help other children and families experience the extraordinary impact of a wish. You could:
Fundraise for other wish families
Every idea is a good idea when raising money to grant wishes. With your special experience of a wish, you have the most powerful reason to hold your own fundraiser to help provide lifelong memories for more families like your own.
Tom had his wish granted and now laces up as a #WishHero to ensure more children can experience their own magical wish.
Give a gift
We receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of our supporters to enable us to continue granting wishes. Your networks, services and skills could be just what we need to help grant a child’s wish. Gifts-In-Kind are equally as important as monies raised to help us achieve our mission to grant a wish to every eligible child.
Check out Adil’s wish where most of what you see was generously gifted by our incredible supporters...
Share your story
Not only do wish stories highlight the life-changing impact a wish can have, they can also be a source of inspiration and excitement to other children as they start their own wish journey. Helping them unlock their imagination and dream up their own perfect wish.
Your story could also raise awareness of serious medical conditions and the challenges facing families living with them, and encourage potential supporters to fundraise or make a donation, enabling us to continue granting magical wishes. As five-year-old Riley said, “That's great mam, I can help other poorly children get their magical wish.”
"I shared Riley’s story not only to spread awareness of his condition but to also help families in similar situations as ours know that they’re not alone. And that a small wish can go a long way to making a rocky journey feel a lot less bumpy."

Volunteer for Make-A-Wish UK
Whether they've experienced a wish first-hand like you, know a loved one who's received a wish, or simply want to make a positive difference to the lives of others, each of our volunteers has their own reason for supporting us.
There are lots of ways to get involved, from cheering on our #WishHeroes at one of our challenge events to capturing a child's wish as a Wishmaker.
Simon's story
After doing a skydive to fundraise for Make-A-Wish in 2009, Simon decided that this was a charity he wanted to continue supporting, so it was a natural progression to become a volunteer. However, through a cruel twist of fate, after supporting Make-A-Wish for three years, Simon went from being a supporter to a wish parent when his own daughter, Hannah, was diagnosed with cancer in 2012.
Experiencing a wish from the other side gave Simon a unique insight into the power of a wish and made him even more determined to do everything he can to ensure other families in his position get to experience the magic of a wish and have the opportunity to make their own special memories.
"One of the important things for me and the reasons why I continue to volunteer and fundraise for Make-A-Wish, is because I’ve seen firsthand what it's like to be that parent, to see your child have a critical illness, to have very, very dark times."
