More critically ill children to receive life-changing wishes thanks to players of the Postcode Lottery

Players of the Postcode Lottery are continuing their support for Make-A-Wish UK for a third year, helping the charity grant more life-changing wishes for critically ill children across the UK at a time of rising demand.

Right now, around 134,000 children in the UK could be eligible for a wish because they are living with a critical illness, while one child every hour is diagnosed with a condition that could make them eligible for support from Make-A-Wish UK.

Since March 2024, Postcode Lottery players have raised over £900,000 for Make-A-Wish to help Make-A-Wish UK grant life-changing wishes that give critically ill children and their families the chance to create precious memories together during unimaginably difficult times. During this time, Make-A-Wish UK has granted over 2,750 wishes to critically ill children across the UK.

Funds raised by players of the Postcode Lottery have helped grant wishes including VIP shopping sprees to celebrate the end of treatment, dream trips to LEGOLAND and Peppa Pig World, and unforgettable family experiences designed to create long lasting memories at a time when they need it most.

"Every wish matters because every childhood matters. For children living with a critical illness, a wish gives them the chance to look beyond hospitals, treatment and uncertainty and simply focus on being a child again. We are granting more wishes than ever before, but demand continues to grow at a heartbreaking pace. The continued support from players of the Postcode Lottery will help us reach more children sooner and create memories that families will treasure forever."

Jason Suckley, Chief Executive at Make-A-Wish UK

“Players of the Postcode Lottery are proud to continue supporting Make-A-Wish UK and the incredible work they do for critically ill children and their families across the UK. A wish can give families joy and time together during some of the hardest moments imaginable and I’m delighted that our players are helping more children experience the life-changing power of a wish.”
