Four year old Katie, who lives with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, loves watching CBeebies’ ‘Something Special’ star Mr Tumble (aka Justin Fletcher) on TV. So it wasn’t a great surprise when when she chose as her wish to see her favourite star in pantomime and meet him afterwards.
Katie travelled from her native South Shields to Reading, where a limo collected her and took her for a yummy meal at Frankie and Benny’s before whisking her off to the pantomime Justin was appearing in, Beauty and the Beast, at the Hexagon Theatre. After the show, her hero (and Make-A-Wish Patron) Mr Tumble spent time chatting with Katie in his dressing room and posing for photographs.

Katie started chemotherapy after being diagnosed with Leukaemia in January 2011, but sadly relapsed after six months and received a bone marrow transplant shortly afterwards. She has now finished treatment and attends hospital for monthly check-ups.
Katie’s Mum, Christine, said: “It was such a lovely experience to bring Katie to see Mr Tumble. She really loves him so her face brightened up the minute she saw him. It was a really special experience.”
